As one of his first orders of business, Apple's senior vice president of retail--a man with the everyman hero moniker John Browett--told retail store employees that their raises would arrive three months early this year, on June 30 instead of September 30. That can only mean one thing: A new, pricey Apple product is coming out on July 1. Let's all go get in line now! You first.

9to5Mac shares what it says are pictures of the next iPhone, with a taller (but no wider) screen, a relocated headphone jack, and a much smaller dock connector port. So all those cables you've accumulated for charging your i-things could be just months away from becoming officially useless. On the plus side, if the photos prove legit, that will afford the team at many more opportunities to toss around the phrase "dock connector port" in the months ahead.

- Tao Effect has released a new version of its utility that can encrypt folders of files on your Mac. Version 3 was completely rewritten and has a new user interface. It supports AES-256 encryption and Scrypt. Espionage now has support for multiple master passwords, and works with Time Machine and Dropbox. $20.
