Technology race

14.12.2006

We have lots of projects going on at any given time--we run around 300 projects a year. Currently the key ones include: enhancing CRM, data mining and data warehousing systems, new racing systems to enhance the racing operation and improve processes that manage the horse ownership area of the business. We are always upgrading aspects of the network in efforts to look into better ways to channel information across different sites.

We also have a large storage project being planned and we're in the process of talking to various vendors on that.

The Club is also establishing a hotel and clubhouse in Beijing and we're planning a support team for that. Ultimately everything is geared towards improving the company's agility and being able to respond to the Club's needs faster.

CWHK: Any cutting edge or emerging technologies that the Jockey Club is actively investigating right now?

SL: We're introducing a new form of racing club, which looks at the needs of customers with a particularly keen interest in horses. This is driving the need to build better CRM capabilities in order to develop this business further.
