According to Subban, the exact costs for the roll-out are not clear as yet, however, in terms of how much people are going to have to pay to use it, this is benchmarked at R150 (US$25) per month for residents.

Subban says that the main aim for this project is to get broadband to the majority of the people in the city. 'For this we are exploring devices that will operate as multimedia devices, to ensure that poorer people, who cannot afford computers, also benefit from broadband connectivity."
