Remains of the Day: iPad, you pad, we all pad

It seems the innards of an HP TouchPad cost just about the same as the innards of an iPad 2. Of course, have repeatedly compared it--unfavorably--with the iPad. Which just goes to prove that old adage, kids: It's what's on the inside that counts, with the sole exception being what that stuff on the inside costs. Meanwhile, I still fear the day our tablet computers rise up and disassemble us instead.

A 15-year-old boy has been named the world's fastest iPad typist by the Guinness Book of World Records. And it just so happens that the boy in question is the son of Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili. And it also just so happens that Georgia had a $500 military budget last year. I'm not saying there's a connection. Because Georgia may well know where I live.

Good news! Motorola has dropped the price of the Xoom tablet to $499, a drop of $100. So now it's just as affordable as an iPad. I'm confident that will solve all of Motorola's tablet sales woes and--. Sorry, I tried to keep a straight face. Really, I did.
