Hong Kong has a tech-savvy population, according to Tsang who pointed out that the city's household broadband Internet penetration rate is more than 82 per cent. Also, Hong Kong has a robust market characterised by an insatiable appetite for state-of-the-art ICT applications.

ICT professionals may find huge opportunities in regional and global markets.

While the developments in mainland China have boosted demand for ICT products and services, mainland companies can go global by leveraging the international trading infrastructure of Hong Kong.

Addressing the ceremony, Tsang said: "Since 2006, the ICT Awards have become a springboard for our dedicated professionals to achieve success and gain exposure further afield. They have also helped to promote healthy competition and raise the bar for the industry here in Hong Kong.

"Once again, this year there was fierce competition for the Awards with over 740 entries. This demonstrates strong support among the industry and the community for these Awards," he said.
