Zeleniak says the delays won't matter as long as all FTS 2001 business is migrated to Networx by next spring, when the FTS 2001 bridge contracts expire.

"I thought more agencies by now might have made their decisions, but we always knew that transition takes a long time," Zeleniak says. "These are big decisions for agencies, and it takes time and it takes resources...I'm not frustrated. It's the way the business is."

Once an agency selects a carrier, the transition from FTS 2001 to Networx is quick, Zeleniak says.

"We created a back office transition so that any customer who is with us today on FTS 2001, if they are buying the same service under Networx, we can transition them in the course of one month," Zeleniak says, adding that Verizon Business was able to transfer 50,000 voice lines to Networx for the U.S. Postal Service in a month.. "It's a very speedy process that's helped to accelerate Networx transition."
