The project began with a migration of two greenfield sites to IP to pilot the system's functionality.
Bernard Sloan, operations manager of the Water Corp.'s information services branch, said the company needed a system that would facilitate future IP telephony upgrades and provide ongoing support.
"The Water Corp. needs a solution that is innovative, technologically advanced and in line with future [changes]," Sloan said.
"The outcomes of the pilot were excellent given the tight timeframes - the very high standards in terms of project delivery [which were set] have thus far carried on through into the delivery of the enterprise project.
"The replacement and upgrade strategy focuses on upgrading most departmental telephony related systems and includes local support, ongoing service management and transparent disaster recovery."
