Vocus begins partial phase out of Maxnet name

"We're outsourcing our network support services from Australia to Auckland, New Zealand so we anticipate staff levels will increase because of that," he said.

"This is because we like the skill sets in Maxnet and we think there is opportunity to find the skills we require in Auckland. "

He added that a number of Australian-based telecommunications and ISP customers had started using the company's NZ data centres since the acquisition in June this year. Spenceley was not able to name any of the customers as yet.

In addition, NZ-based Jade Software signed a data centre contract in mid-August with Vocus while Konica Minolta, an existing Maxnet customer, is due to host its cloud document management service with the company within the next fortnight.
