ST Electronics launches IPTV solution

12.07.2006
Singapore Technologies Electronics Ltd., the electronics arm of ST Engineering, has launched an IP-based TV (IPTV) technology that uses the advanced H.264 compression technology, allowing reduced demand on the bandwidth at 700kbps or below, while maintaining the video quality.

ST Electronics specializes in the design, development and integration of advanced electronics systems such as broadband radio frequency and satellite communication, e-government solutions, information communications technologies, rail and traffic management, real-time command and control, training and simulation, intelligent building management, and information security and mobile commerce solutions.

Unveiled at BroadcastAsia 2006, the company's IPTV solution will pave the way for wide selection of converged services comprising a combination of video, voice and data (Triple Play) on television over the public network.

This allows delivery of the same quality and contents with only 700kbps of bandwidth needed compared to the standard 2Mbps currently used.
