Sharp rise in CNN.com traffic on US election day

Traffic to the international edition of CNN.com increased 789 percent on the United States' presidential election day, 5 November, as compared to the same day the previous week, according to the US news network.

Live video streams on CNN.com Live, the Internet's only multi-stream, live video news service jumped 2,750 percent.

Videos served to audiences were up 571 percent compared to the previous Wednesday as users clicked on demand.

In Asia Pacific, week-on-week traffic from South Korea to the international edition of CNN.com already increased 1,459 percent as compared to the previous week. From Australia, a weekly surge of 766 percent was seen and from Hong Kong, a 584 percent.

Worldwide trend

Around the world, higher traffic to the international edition of CNN.com was also seen from the UK (348 percent), France (661 percent), Germany (524 percent), Netherlands (440 percent), South Africa (388 percent), Sweden (493 percent), among others.
