Philippines sees increase in outsourcing market share

16.02.2007

According to Canadian-based chief executive officer and lead outsourcing analyst Lauro Vives, 'The Philippines is still considered a green field site for IT services and has potential for growth relative to the other ICT related sectors such as the call center.' He continues to add, 'IT services now must take the lead alongside BPO in being the driver for the Philippines to reach 2 percent global market share by 2009'.

The Philippines is estimated to currently have 79,469 active IT professionals and 120,000 call center agents serving both the local and global ICT services market.

Total global market share of the Philippines is projected to reach approximately $3.50 billion by the end of 2007. The research continues to mention that there could be a slight possibility of not meeting this forecast if efficiencies and effectiveness in recruitment are not improved.
