According to Infonetics analyst Matthias Machowinski, Nortel had 21 percent of the total IP private branch exchange (PBX) market in the third quarter in North America, Avaya had 20 percent, and Cisco had 18 percent. He said the third-quarter data doesn't take into account recent management changes, since all of those were made in the fourth quarter.

Infonetics put third-quarter revenues for IP PBX voice switches globally at US$1.7 billion, an increase of 10 percent over the previous quarter.
