Ncomputing confident of virtualization adoption

The X-series, however, provides more multimedia performance. It uses direct-connect cables (up to 10 meters long) between the shared PC and the users. An X-series kit includes a PCI card that installs into a slot in the shared PC and three or five access devices but it depends on the model.

"With two [X-series] kits in one PC, you get up to 11 users on one PC. So why buy 10 PCs per user when you can only use one?" Sharma said. The X-series kits costs about US$70 per user, and this includes vSpace virtualization software as well.

The executive explained NComputing's vSpace virtualization software shares the excess processing power of a computer (PC or server) and transmits the signals between the shared computer and each user. Each user's monitor, keyboard and peripherals connect to a small NComputing access device that then connects to the shared computer. He said the device has no CPU, memory, or moving parts.

"The products are very good for emerging countries like the Philippines. It is the smarter way of deploying PCs. It is what customers are asking for, which is low cost but effective virtual desktop computing," Sharma said, adding there is even no need to be a tech guru since the devices are easy to setup.

Ncomputing recently partnered with local IT distributor NCPI Enterprises for the delivery of the L-Series and X-Series kits in the country.
