"Oracle has considerable new market opportunities in this region," Mitchell said. "Our management team, which averages more than 10 years of Oracle experience each, is well suited to pursue those opportunities."

Mitchell's new role as Asia-Pacific region senior VP will extend his existing responsibilities in strategic acquisitions, business strategy and planning, and management of Oracle's offices in the AP countries, to also directing day-to-day operations for the region.

Mitchell previously held the position of Australia and New Zealand managing director from December 2000 to 2004. He first joined the company in 1998.
