Hey Obama: Invest in fiber, open up spectrum

-Deploying femtocells at public hospitals, schools and government offices to provide wireless coverage to buildings where existing wireless coverage is poor.

-Create a "community geek squad" of tech experts to help train and teach more citizens how to properly use broadband technology.

-Encourage businesses to let more of their workers work from home to boost productivity and save money on expensive office infrastructure.

President Obama has made expanding broadband into rural regions of the U.S. a key plank in his technology policy. The president included funding for more broadband as part of his economic stimulus package and he proposed building out broadband infrastructure to rural communities during his last year.
