May Open Data Center in Finnish Paper Mill

HAMINA, Finland -- Google Inc. said it might open a data center here, on the site of a closed paper mill that it has agreed to buy for #8364;40 million ($51 million U.S.).

Stora Enso Oyj, a paper production company in Helsinki, closed the mill last month.

"We are currently considering building a data center at this site," Google said in a statement. First, "there are a number of contingencies to be resolved and plans to be put in place," it added.

The transaction is slated to close during this year's first quarter.
