Gartner: PDA shipments grew by 32 percent in Q3 '06

17.11.2006

Palm continued to recede from the PDA market, primarily because it does not have a PDA model that incorporates cellular capabilities and its current line is aging. Palm's PDA shipments declined by 2.7 percent from the same period last year. However, the company is primarily focused on the Treo and its shipments totalled 484,000, but these are excluded from Gartner's PDA numbers because they are smartphones.

Despite the launch of some new models, HP's PDA business continued to struggle in the third quarter. HP's worldwide PDA shipments declined by 33 percent compared to one year ago, with shipments of about 370,000.
