Fujitsu helps complete population census in China

Fujitsu has successfully contributed to the completion of the sixth nationwide population census in China.

The ICT solutions and services provider has delivered its fi-Series scanner solutions and the form capturing and processing system to this end.

The census leveraged 1,700 units of Fujitsu fi-Series scanners to digitise and convert handwritten data.

The project was carried out by the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBSC) and was completed in April 2011.

Fujitsu claims this census was successful because of the company's patented optical character recognition (OCR) technology, which was embedded in the form capturing and processing system, customisations as well as the comprehensive services.
