Bethesda Softworks' 2008 RPG topped research company Rentrak's list of the most rented games of 2009. The Portland, Oregon-based company released a list of the top 20 most rented games on Thursday, which is made up of 17 Xbox 360 titles, three Wii titles, and zero PS3 titles. The Xbox 360's most rented first-party title was 2008's , earning it the fifth spot on the list. Unsurprisingly, (which was only available for a little over seven weeks in 2009) ranked number 12 on the list.

According to another section of Rentrak's announcement which measured the most advertised titles based on retail circulars, Xbox 360 titles were also the most advertised, earning nine spots in the top 20, along with five Wii titles and three PS3 titles.
