Economy blamed for Sierra Leone call card controversy

03.04.2009

Natcom invited the telcos to an emergency meeting earlier this week that lasted for several hours.

In the aftermath of Natcom's statement, controversy has come up in various telecenters and shops where subscribers buy cards. Some card sellers are insistent about the new prices, but buyers have resisted.

Police have been employed to enforce the approved, former prices, according to unofficial reports. Some major card retailers' shops have been closed down for business.
