City council adopts asset management

04.04.2006

The council is still deciding if residents will be allowed access to asset-based financial information.

Brenton McPherson, SPL WorldGroup Asia Pacific vice president, said the application is replacing a bunch of disparate systems built in-house designed to track council assets such as parks, reserves, creeks, stadiums, school yards, water treatments plants and the like.

McPherson said the system is expected to go live in September 2006 after a seven-month implementation.

"Once the system goes live we (SPL WorldGroup) will move into a support role but until then implementation is our main involvement including project management, analysis and design," McPherson said.

"The asset management solution will be integrated into the PeopleSoft financial software platform. It is a product Fairfield City Council felt had the architecture to easily integrate with other systems."
