Sun shuts down grid service on first day

A denial-of-service attack forced Sun Microsystems Inc. to shut down a service on its Sun Grid system on March 22, the first day it was open for public use. The attack targeted a text-to-speech application developed by Cepstral LLC that was hosted on the grid. Once the attack was discovered, Sun limited availability to registered users.
