Argy said that because most governments are up for election over the next two years, there is a fantastic opportunity to make the IT sector an electoral issue. The ACS will drive more public awareness of the ethical obligations of IT professionals and make IT a mainstream political issue instead of "a bunch of nerds talking about it".

"This won't be a self-serving ACS membership drive, but an altruistic objective to increase the desirability of ICT as a career option," he said.
