VA Software Corp. in March 2005 plans to add Wiki integration to its SourceForge Enterprise Edition environment for collaborative application development, with the goal of providing more structure to Wikis.

A Wiki is a Web site that allows content to be read and edited by any user, in a manner that is considered easier than using blog technology. VA Software plans to support Wikis in Version 4.2 of SourceForge.

"We"re applying more structure to Wikis" to make it easier to find relevant information, said Colin Bodell, senior vice president of product development at VA Software. Users will be able to integrate Wiki pages with structured materials, he said.

Version 4.2 also will integrate with the Subversion open source change management project, for checking in and checking out source code. SourceForge integrates with existing change management offerings.

"When we go into an enterprise, they already have a change management system," Bodell said.

SourceForge is billed by VA Software as a secure, centralized offering for optimizing and managing distributed development.
