Samsung Nexus S First Impressions (Video!)

10.12.2010
After much anticipation, the finally arrived in the PCWorld offices today. As you might recall, the Nexus S is the first phone to ship with Android 2.3 (aka "Gingerbread"). Manufactured by Samsung, the Nexus S sports the company's Super AMOLED display technology and a 1GHz Hummingbird processor.

My initial impression of the Nexus S hardware is that it looks a whole lot like the Samsung Galaxy line of Android phones. There are a few differences, however. The display is slightly curved (which Google and Samsung are calling a "Contour Display), but it seems more like a gimmick than an actual useful feature. Unlike the Galaxy phones, the Nexus S does not have a microSD slot; you're limited to only 16GB of storage. It also doesn't have a dedicated camera key, which might not be a big deal for some people. As somebody who is constantly taking pictures with her phone, I sorely missed the shutter key.

The will be available unlocked or with a T-Mobile service plan and can be purchased online and in-store from Best Buy starting after December 16. Stay tuned for a full rated review tomorrow.
