Paragon releases Snapshot backup software

05.06.2009
Paragon Software Group has announced the release of , a sector-level backup utility for Mac users. It's being publicly beta tested now.

Designed to complement, rather than replace Time Machine, Snapshot lets you create "point-in-time" copies of data. Sector-level backup means that backed up files match the true on-disk contents -- important when you're managing files like databases. Snapshot thus helps you back up open files without worrying about being able to open them later.

Paragon has also developed a Snapshot for Mac Software Development Kit (SDK) that enables enterprise developers and others to create a custom product based on Snapshot technology. Details are available online.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later, 128MB RAM, Intel-based CPU, and a supported media storage type. Supported file systems including Mac OS Standard, Mac OS X Extended, FAT and NTFS (with Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X installed).
