Gap allowed to develop site Apple was declined

27.06.2012
The Gap has been granted planning permission to develop a site where Apple was turned down.

Apple's plans for the location in Miami Beach, Florida were turned down a year ago by the Historic Preservation Board. That same board has now approved Gap's plans.

The officials granted Gap permission because the new proposal preserved more of the existing historic 1923 building, which Apple had planned to demolish.

According to Apple's architect the building had already been modified so many times that almost nothing was architecturally significant, according to the report.
