Facebook 4.0 update brings native iPad support

10.10.2011
After months of and , Facebook launched an updated version of its iOS app on Monday with .

Version 4.0 of the Facebook app offers most of the full Facebook experience on the iPad: You can browse your news feed, notifications, and messages; view photos in full-screen; view video clips and send them via AirPlay to your television; chat with friends; and even play games your friends have recommended or recently played.

With the introduction of its iPad update, Facebook has begun to integrate its social sharing features (previewed at ) on its mobile platform. If your friends post that they’ve recently been playing an iPad game, for example, you can tap the entry and, if you have the app installed, it’ll bring you directly to the game; otherwise, you’ll be sent to the app’s App Store page so that you can read more (and download it, if you’re so inclined). Facebook’s mobile website has also received this functionality.

The Facebook app is currently available for free. It requires iOS 3.0 or later.
