29.01.2007
Insurance firm Allianz Australia has signed a three year A$8 million (US$6.2 million) IT services contract with the Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC).

Under the latest contract, CSC will provide Allianz with managed desktop services using mPower, a CSC desktop systems management solution based on Microsoft technology, establish a combined CSC and Allianz service desk and implement a standard operating environment (SOE).

CSC has managed the mainframe, network and mid range, desktop and service desks for Allianz for over three years. The new contract brings Allianz's total spend during this period with CSC to A$60 million. Allianz Australia has a combined premium income of more than A$2.4 billion and is Australia's fifth largest general insurance provider. Allianz CIO Steven Coles, said the insurance firm did take time to evaluate the market before deciding to extend its relationship with CSC.

Only last week CSC signed a four year A$480 million contract with BlueScope Steel and in December the outsourcer won a A$15 million contract with the Department of Defence to upgrade its ageing financial information management system.
