He said that Husqvarna's IT budget, including investments, is between 0.5 percent and 1 percent of revenue. In its manufacturing divisions, the cost of IT is between 1.5 percent and 2 percent of revenue. This is approximately half the industry average in the manufacturing sector, where the cost is around 3 percent of revenue. There are however exceptions from the outsourcing strategy. One of them is managing PCs and Windows desktops, which Husqvarna mainly does by itself.

"Helpdesk is actually cost-efficient to do in-house. But we tend to mix. In larger sales units we have bought support from the outside," said Dorth'.

The divorce from Electrolux will be one of Dorth''s last tasks in his working life. His plan is to work two more years and then to retire at the age of 65.

"The separation from Electrolux is -- and has been -- a very interesting challenge. But it will probably be the last big change I will be supervising as a CIO on Husqvarna," he said.
