"From the start, we worked with traditional development. In the middle of the 70s we started working with outsourcing. Now our strategy is, in every possible area, to choose the best possible vendor," said Dorth'.

Even on the telecom and network side, capacity is mainly bought in from external companies.

"We have chosen to build a new, global infrastructure where we buy capacity from Equant in Europe, MCI in the U.S. and Telef'nica in Latin America," said Dorth'.

He added that the advantage with multisourcing is higher flexibility and lower costs. He declined to specify numbers. Another advantage with the strategy is that it is easier to have a clear interface between business and technology.

"We want to work as closely as possible with the business, to avoid the risk that it becomes a separate unit. The entire IT strategy is formulated by the management," said Dorth'.
