Bloggers give Obama marching orders for the IT industry

Matthew_Nickash: True, it's incredibly diverse. What about some standardization, like reading or math standards, to enforce a technology curriculum?

Curt_Monash: Training the engineers of the future is bigger than training the tech users.

Jeff_Doyle: Curt, exactly. Liberal arts has to do with critical thinking, which is a big hole in modern American education. Dan, looking at my own kids in middle school, science and math are well taught. History and literature are not.

Jamey_Heary: Education is a whole bag of worms. It needs a complete overhaul.

Curt_Monash: What's worse, one bad math teacher is enough to turn a kid off of math for life, because math is so sequential. The English and history teaching communities, by contrast, get several tries before they lose a kid.
