Technical, training and workplace issues will be resolved with a pre-rollout testing program and a pilot site, and staff will have access to a CAD working model before they begin formal training.

"Even at its most basic, the new CAD system will deliver modern Windows- based screens, better access to critical information such as mapping, messaging and warning functions [and] improved task allocation to car crews," Johnson said, adding it will also allow supervisors to more easily update existing jobs.

The deal follows a "lengthy and detailed" consultation and investigation process, designed to ensure police and support staff had maximum input into how the new system will look and function, according to NSW Police.

Fujitsu will implement Fortek's Vision software, which was purpose-built for emergency services environments and is used by police, ambulance and fire service control rooms both in Australia and overseas.

The Fujitsu solution has been designed to integrate with the many other operational and intelligence systems that underpin police activities in NSW, including the Police Records Systems and SAP.
