Yahoo increases local content for Southeast Asia

Yahoo Southeast Asia managing director Reza Behnam said the company prioritized these services in the country as it anticipates a significant growth of local Internet users as a result of the Philippine government's ICT campaign.

Behnam cited a Synovate study that found that 43 percent of 20 to 24-year-old users spend an average of three hours per day surfing the Internet. 'So what does this mean for Yahoo? It means that Internet usage will still continue to grow and the Philippines will become even more active in communities, social media, and the Internet communications market.'

Behnam said that the local Yahoo page serves as a relevant entry point to the Internet for all Filipinos.
