Just in time for April Fools’ Day, the repair experts iFixit have come up with a slick new way to get at the innards of an Apple iPad: the iPad Fubar – by Stanley.

iPad service technicians clearly need a faster way to get inside. Our expertise lies primarily in precision tools, but after a year of failing to develop a better methodology ourselves we decided to turn to a higher power. The fine men and women of Stanley Tools are well-known purveyors of first-rate tools, measuring devices, and industrial demolition equipment. We asked them to design a tool specifically for dismantling the iPad. After an intense, collaborative development effort, we’ve finally cracked it,” iFixit boasts.

And all for just $29.95!

Last year iFixit celebrated April 1 with an that spoofed its earlier efforts – in all seriousness – to call attention to what it said was Apple’s scheme to make it hard for people to open up the iPhone by using hard-to-remove Pentalobe screws (in a fuss that become known as “Screwgate”).
