KDE 4 now has a new default power manager, PowerDevil, which introduces a new way of managing power. PowerDevil is integrated into KDE, configurable within System Settings, and can be controlled with a Plasma widget on the panel or desktop.

For printing there is a new system tray applet to help monitor and control print jobs.

ConsoleKit, a Freedesktop.org framework, has been integrated into the KDE Display Manager (KDM). ConsoleKit enables some multi-user features like fast user switching and keeps track of user sessions in a desktop agnostic way.

The file manager, Dolphin, has seen several changes aimed to make file management more efficient.
