Chinese firm targets Philippine market for 3G services

When ZTE Corp. first set up shop in the country, competition in the network provider market was already full-blown, said George Zhu, the company's chief local representative.

With limited opportunities, the company has decided to penetrate the market in two ways. "To ultimately establish ourselves as the telco partner of choice, we either look for opportunities or create them," Zhu said in a press briefing Wednesday night.

Competitive pricing falls under the latter category and ZTE Corp. minces no words about its strategy.
