The Tab's inclusion of cameras and its lighter weight are also big pluses when compared to the iPad, Ong said. The tablet weighs 380 grams (0.8 pounds), compared to iPad's 680 grams.

Samsung will beat Apple in Malaysia's tablet market, where the iPad is not yet available, Ong said. The Tab may be more expensive, but it's worth it for the portability and extra features, he said

The iPad is being increasingly used for work, but the Tab gets a leg up with the integration of Google Apps in the Android OS, said Philip Letts, founder and chairman of advertising and marketing firm Blur Group in the U.K.

Letts and his firm rely heavily on Macintosh computers, but he is considering buying a Tab. Beyond Google Apps integration, support for Flash is really important, Letts said.

"Without these [considerations] I would have gone for iPad," Letts said.
