WiFiber spans the 'last mile'

19.05.2006

Current clients include railroads, major universities, insurance companies, international banks, the departments of Defense and Homeland Security and the Trump organization.

Pricing begins at $44,000 per link. Compare that cost to $250,000 per mile just to lay fiber in suburban Indianapolis, and $1 million to do the same in San Francisco. That's why the city of San Francisco recently expanded their use of WiFiber.

Hans Loffeld, IT director of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, said, "Our experience with the first GigaBeam links has encouraged us to add the new links and to consider additional purchases based upon the WiFiber bandwidth and reliability to support a wide range of critical city and PUC functions. The economics of WiFiber have proven superior to terrestrial fiber and other wireless alternatives."
