Vodafone sells 100,000 Apple iPhones in a week

In just over one week, has sold 100,000 to customers in the UK, half of which pre-ordered before last Thursday's launch date. .

"Just over a week since launch and @VodafoneUK has already sold its 100,000th iPhone! #100k," Vodafone announced on the official on Friday afternoon.

The figure compares well with O2, Orange and Tesco Mobile. Orange reportedly took the month of December to shift a similar amount of Apple smartphones, which Vodafone managed in a week or so.

"The demand from both consumer and business customers has been phenomenal. They want an outstanding phone on an outstanding network and we're delivering that." a somewhat happy Guy Laurence, Vodafone CEO said.

Meanwhile, McLaren will unveil its new all-star British world champion driver line-up and 2010 car at title sponsor Vodafone's UK headquarters, on 29th January, the team has confirmed. New signing Jenson Button will appear alongside 2008 title winner Lewis Hamilton in McLaren colours for the first time.

Button appeared at a Oxford Street Vodafone store earlier in the week showing off a new Apple iPhone.
