Ubisoft hint at new Assassin's Creed in the next year

17.02.2011
The possibilities for the next Assassin's Creed installment trumped pretty much every other piece of news today. Too bad we don't have much more to go on than a vague mention.

We've known for that Ubisoft intends to release a new Assassin's Creed game each fiscal year, so it's no surprise to us that there will be a new Assassin's Creed in 2012 (possibly even late 2011). Our big question is: Will be it an official Assassin's Creed 3, or a Brotherhood-style continuation of Assassin's Creed 2?

Sadly, the Ubisoft earnings call wasn't much help. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot only said that the game would be a "packaged" title (read: disc-based release) and that we would learn more in May of this year.

Even so, knowing that Ubisoft is on track with its annual release plan for Assassin's Creed is a relief. Especially considering that the words "Tom Clancy," "Splinter Cell," and "Ghost Recon" didn't come up even once during the entire call or the press release.

Oh well. We know we can count on more Just Dance, right?
