Novell is positioning its IAM solutions as the foundation of in the enterprise network. It manages identity and access across the network, whether in a physical, virtual or cloud environment. Since it is part of the security solution, companies seriously consider available solutions and feel the need to invest in a reliable solution.

Among the different costs involved in purchasing a security solution, the study further revealed that companies are encouraged to buy the solution if the services costs involved would be lower.

Novell said the study indicated that its solutions are easier on the company's bottom line as it costs 30 per cent less to deploy their solutions compared to what competitors can offer.

"One of the consistent drivers for purchases is total cost of ownership. Organisations are not making their buying decisions based on initial costs for service and operation; they need to know what the solution will cost them two, three, five years down the line," said Jim Ebzery, senior vice president and general manager of security, management and operating platforms, Novell.
