'Jonathan, on the other hand, has been with Sun for a while and I'm very impressed with him; I believe he's ready for us,' added Thompson. Sang Shin, a technology architect at Sun, also present at the Java in Manila event, agreed saying that Schwartz was, in fact, almost running majority of the company's day-to-day engineering, sales, and worldwide operations for quite a while now.

'I think Scott believed it was time to step down because he has accomplished what he wanted to accomplish,' said Shin.

When asked if they expect any drastic changes in the company now with a new CEO on board, Thompson said that anytime changes like this happen, it is safe to expect some differences or minor changes in some aspects of the business. However, Thompson emphasized that since they are entering a new fiscal year in July, changes will most likely take place in the company even without the change in management.
