Asking Santa for open standards computing

De Bortoli Wines IT manager Bill Robertson identified a number of helpful technologies making their mark in 2005, but none more significantly than the drive towards open standards computing.

"For us, it's all about open standards [and] I expect to see real momentum around open standards as the concept moves from the networking and hardware space more firmly into the realm of application software," Robertson said.

"We try to implement open standards wherever possible and practical to do so, aiming to provide a flexible and adaptable infrastructure environment."

Robertson finds adopting open source software to be the "path of least resistance" towards implementing open standards.
