The 46PFL9706's 3D is notable for its brightness and detail; but crosstalk double imaging is apparent. Two pairs of Active Shutter glasses are included in the box. On the plus side, audio quality is outstanding. The 20w sound system, built into the stand itself, creates a loud, well-rounded soundstage.

Buying a 46PFL9706 is a bit like adopting a puppy from the RSPCA. Owning one is uniquely rewarding, but requires a lot of effort. The TV’s Ambilight system is terrific, and picture quality can be outstanding, but there are issues regarding the Moth Eye filter and local dimming that give pause for thought. And it’s horrendously expensive…
