Nortel also announced that a Russian service provider, Golden Telecom Inc. in Moscow, is using Nortel wireless mesh network technology to build the first such network in Moscow.

The mesh will consist of 5,000 Nortel Wi-Fi access points for indoor and outdoor wireless access that will be used by 3.9 million households in Moscow. Tests of the network are expected to be finished this summer, and service will be phased in once tests are completed.

Golden Telecom officials were not available for comment.
