InstantNote+ offers voice reminders, scheduling options

The era of whipping out a microcasette recorder to dictate a memorandum or a reminder seemed to be a relic of the 1990s, living on only in . But intends to revive the practice among iPhone users.

The app, announced Wednesday by developer , lets you make voice recordings about important ideas or meetings--and offers scheduling capabilities so your iPhone plays the message back to you at a specified time and date.

InstantNote+ can also help business users manage the timing of their communications with the outside world, with features to schedule and even initiate--with the user's consent--calls, texts, and e-mails. (The consent requirement means the phone won't accidentally call an important client while a user is in the middle of other business.) Scheduling is done via a multicolored grid divided into 15-minute increments.

InstantNote+ costs $10, and is compatible with devices running iOS 4.0 or later.
