Game Developers Choice Awards feature Uncharted 2 dominance

12.03.2010
The Game Developers Choice Awards were last night, and many of the world's top developers were on hand to celebrate 2009's best games. Uncharted 2 saw the success it began at last month's Interactive Achievement Awards continue on, as it took home five trophies, including the Game of the Year. The show was hosted by Warren Spector, who jokingly plugged Epic Mickey throughout the night, but closed the show with a trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Three honorary awards were also presented at the GDC Awards. Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley gave the Ambassador Award to the three men behind Penny Arcade (Jerry Holkins, Mike Krahulik, and Robert Khoo). Indie game developer Chris Hecker gave the Pioneer Award to Valve's Gabe Newell, who had a busy night delivering a blue-screen themed Portal 2 clue after guest-starring in Mega64's latest video. EA's Will Wright honored his friend and the father of the first-person shooter John Carmack with both a Lifetime Achievement Award and a powerpoint presentation called "Why John Carmack Rocks."

Here is the full list of award winners. Are there any awards you think should have gone to a different game?
