"Once Fujifilm's equipment has been installed, there will be a common platform across Victoria's participating public health care agencies that will provide a seamless solution for managing, storing and distributing images and information throughout their facilities," he said.

"Other benefits include direct access to electronic information by all participating agencies enabling more informed diagnostic assessments, speedy access to medical images, more efficient and effective use of personnel, and a chemical free environment."

Carmody said it was a comprehensive selection process over a period of 12 months.

He said it involved extensive demonstrations and presentations, site visits to existing customer locations in Australia and the United States, as well as panel discussions.

Implementation will begin with a planning and study process (IPS) which will be followed by an IPS reconnaissance at each hospital that is scheduled to receive the new equipment.
