Jayne Nickalls, the former chief executive of Directgov, has joined web experience software provider Jadu to head up its business development strategy.

Nickalls joins the company's board as a non-executive director from UK citizen information website Directgov, where she worked from May 2005 ro March 2011, leading the site from a start-up to an established website with 30 million visits a month.

Prior to this role, Nickalls was VP of consulting in Northern Europe at Chordiant Software, and has also had consultancy roles at Capgemini and British Gas.

Nickalls will help Jadu expand in the UK and internationally, the company said.

"Jayne's experience in government online services will really help Jadu, our customers and partners build even more relevant and secure applications," said Suraj Kika, CEO of Jadu.

The software company recently launched cloud-based, mobile app publishing network 'Weejot', which allows organisations without technical skills to create mobile apps in real time.
